Antique Fiddleback Wall Mount Telephone – Hand Crank Magneto – Refinished and Modified

This telephone is in good condition, as it has been significantly modified and refinished. It appears that the original magneto and ringer box has been either modified or replaced entirely to fit a different magneto and ringer than the original. The writing slope, which would have previously flipped open to expose the magneto unit and batteries, now has a small wooden insert hiding the internals. The box is held onto the case with 6 Robertson head screws through the backing plate. The magneto and ringer set do function as intended. The transmitter appears to be a strange reproduction, where the transmitter and transmitter cup are all one unit. The transmitter mounting cup is stamped “Patented USA November 1910” and the transmitter arm appears to be a Western Electric. The receiver does appear to be original, and is in nice shape with very little surface wear and only mild fading of the Bakelite. This is an antique item, so some age wear is to be expected.
