Northern Electric Type N317-E Wooden Wall Telephone – Modified

This telephone has been extensively modified from its original specifications. From the exterior, the main noticeable differences are the Model 500 style dial inserted into the writing slope, and a switch along the left side of the case. The unit does however, still have the proper transmitter arm, as well as a stamped Northern Electric transmitter mount, and a 337 transmitter. The transmitter spit-cup appears to be an original Bakelite spit-cup, however it has had its threads stripped and glue was used to attempt to keep it in place. The receiver is a reproduction with a replacement cloth cord. The hand crank spins, but is not connected to anything inside the telephone, as the telephones internals have been replaced with what appears to be the internals of a Model 500 desk telephone, which does not use a magneto. It is unclear what purpose the external switch serves. This phone would be a great donor phone or restoration project. This is an antique item, so some age wear is to be expected.

This item is untested and is being sold as is.
