Description

Northern Electric Centurion Rotary Dial Payphone – Bell System – Green

This telephone is in very good original condition with a snug-fitting green case that is mostly undamaged. There are a few gouges at the very top of the case, as well as some white speckling. The metal parts all still have a very nice shine. The dial wheel spins as intended, and has a nice Bell System center card. The top and bottom card windows of the phone are intact and undamaged. The handset is in nice condition with only a bit of surface wear from age. It still has the somewhat textured surface and armored cord that were the standard of payphones of this era, however, the handset is marked Northern Telecom, as opposed to the phone which has Northern Electric markings. It is likely the handset was replaced while the phone was still in operation. The vault door comes out easily with a T-key, however, there is no longer a coin box in this unit. The locks for both the coin door and the internals of the phone have been removed, so both are accessible with only a T-key. The phone appears to be intact internally as well. There is a marking at the top of the unit that reads “QSD401A-3=75” as well as “S1”, from this it is likely the phone came into operation in 1975. This is a vintage item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.

This item is untested and is being sold as is.
