Edison Standard Model A – Antique Phonograph – Green Oak Standard – Complete + Working

This Edison Standard Model A is the late style (1901) Green Oak Standard. It is in good original condition, with a very nice case and finish, with a bright and mostly intact “Edison Standard Phonograph” transfer decal. The transfer decal has a scratch through the R of “Standard” and part of the R in “Phonograph” is missing. The I.D. plate inside the phone is stamped with the serial number “S90896”. The gold accents on the base plate have mostly faded, however the “Thomas A. Edison” trademark is still intact. The unit has been tested and is functional, however, the motor assembly is hanging slightly lower in the case than intended, as the front most screw is not tight enough. It appears that it may have lost a spacer. Due to this mispositioning, the drive belt has stretched and is not tight enough to turn the mandrel at a consistent rate. The unit seems to be fully functional otherwise, with smooth gearing and a functional playback toggle switch. The phonograph is equipped with a Model-C reproducer. The horn is in good shape, with some light denting and tarnishing, and some minor wearing of the metal on the reproducer end. The wear does not affect the fit of the horn. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
