Western Electric – Model 17C – Antique Hand Crank Linemans Test Set

This antique wooden test set is in excellent original condition. The case has very little surface wear for its age, and has a bright Western Electric transfer decal on the front. There is some mild tarnishing of the metal receiver cover, but it is still in very nice shape. The rest of the metal components on this test set are in very good shape with only minor surface wear. The watchcase receiver is a stamped Western Electric and has a remarkably clean finish, besides a ring of wear where it contacts the case when mounted. The lettering on top of the unit is very bright and clear, and this unit still has the original leather strap attached. The crank spins smoothly with the expected resistance and the knob for switching from “Talk” to “Talk & Listen” toggles as intended as well. The phone appears to be completely intact both internally and externally. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
