Stromberg Carlson – Model 1258WL Bakelite Telephone – Wall Mount Magneto

This telephone is in very good original condition with only minor surface wear and no signs of damage. There is some speckling of paint on the case, but it could likely be polished clean. The cradle, which is stamped Stromberg Carlson, does show some significant corrosion. The handset is a nice Stromberg Carlson “Horsehoof” with only some fading of the Bakelite, and no damage to the element covers. The handset cord has significant fraying however. This unit is equipped with the optional metal cased magneto. The magneto casing has some white paint along the edges, and some corrosion and tarnishing on the top. The magneto cranks, however it has significantly more resistance than intended. It may require maintenance to return to normal resistance. The cradle switch toggles up and down as it should, and the phone appears to be intact internally. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
