Description

Stromberg Carlson Candlestick Telephone – Antique Early 1900s Telephone

This telephone is in good condition, with some signs of refurbishment. The finish on the shaft appears as though it may have been sanded down to reveal the bare metal below. The transmitter mount area has had some of the nickel plating wear away, exposing some brass beneath. The base of the telephone still has what appears to be the original black paint, however, it has chipped away along the bottom edge, and the surface beneath has corroded. The transmitter is a Western Electric 329W, which appears to have had the original coating removed as it is bare, which is not very typical of the 329W. It appears modifications had to be made to mount the WE transmitter, as there are some washers between the mount and the ball joint. The receiver is in good shape, with only some fading from age, and no signs of other wear or damage. The switch hook is the period correct hook, which sweeps down to cradle the receiver. The switch hook functions as intended, and the phone appears to be intact internally. There is no cover for the bottom of the phone. This is an antique item, so some age wear is to be expected.

The item is untested and being sold as is.
