S.H. Couch Company 10-Line Interphone – Wall Mount Multiline Intercom Telephone

This is a very early Interphone from the S.H. Couch Company. The phone has no Couch branding, however it has two patent dates which are “Sept.11.1906” and “Mar.8.1910” indicating that this interphone is part of their original run of interphones. The first run of phones consisted of both candlestick and wall mount units like this one, however, the 1906 patent describes this wall mount unit. The unit is in very good original condition with only minor surface wear, and some chipping of the transmitter spit-cup. There is a small split in the front of the case, just below the switchboard plate, but the case is otherwise in very nice shape. There are also some specs of paint and spots with wear from age on the case. The metal parts of the phone have some tarnishing, but still hold much of their original shine. The buttons for the different lines and the switch hook all toggle up and down smoothly. The receiver does not have any stamping, but appears to be an original unit. The receiver has cracks along one side, but it is still holding together. The interphone does appear to be intact internally as well. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
