Phillips Electrical Works Monophone Wall Phone – AE50 Jukebox Telephone

This telephone is Phillips Electricals Works’ version of Automatic Electric’s infamous Type AE50 telephone. This telephone is in rough original shape, it has had the case from an AE35 swapped on, however that case has been damaged. The phone was likely dropped, as a significant section of the bottom of the phone, where the vents are, has been damaged and repairs were attempted. The rest of the case is in rather nice shape, with only some minor blemishes in the Bakelite. The handset is the proper Automatic Electric handset, which only shows slight fading from age and minor surface wear. The cradle is missing the plunger that cuts the line when the handset is placed on it. The dial is in nice shape visually and spins smoothly, however, it does not re-center on its own. The phone appears to be intact internally and has had a standard phone jack cord wired in. This phone would be an excellent candidate for refurbishment, as it is a unique part of Canadian Telecommunications history. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
