Northern Electric – Model N317 Antique Wooden Wall Mount Telephone

This telephone is in excellent original condition. The phone has had the original transmitter arm and receiver swapped out for a Northern Electric F2 handset. From the quality of the workmanship, and the changes made to the wiring diagram and model stamping on the back of the phone, it is almost certain this change was made by Northern Electric while the telephone was still in service. The finish of the case and the metal components is in excellent, with next to no wear on the case and a very well done insert to fill the hole left by the original transmitter. One of the metal inserts for the mounting hole in the baseplate of the phone is missing, and there is a chunk broken off of the top right corner of the backplate. The phone contains a 48-A magneto which cranks and rings the bells as intended. The F2 handset has some wear from use, but is very good overall and could easily polished to a like new finish if desired. The wiring diagram has been drawn over to indicate the changes that have been made to the telephone, and the stamping on the back plate has been stricken and re stamped. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
