Enochs Electric Co. 50AL Rotary Dial Candlestick Telephone Desk Set – Brass – Bulldog Trans.

This telephone is a Western Electric 50AL distributed by Enochs Electric Company of St. Pauls Minnesota. The phone is in good original condition, with some damage to the receiver cap, and an odd refinishing. The phone appears to have been brush painted with a bright brass color. It looks almost as though it was done as a touch up to the faded sections, and then over time the sections which were not painted faded in turn. The exposed brass shows no corrosion, and there are no other signs of wear on the metal parts of the set. The receiver is embossed with “Enochs Electric Co. St. Pauls Minn” and “Patents Pending”. The receiver is in nice shape with only some fading and surface wearing of the Bakelite. The element cover however has a chunk missing, and some cracks throughout. The Bulldog transmitter is in good shape as well, with the only wear being a large scuff on the bottom of the inside lip. The dial has a bright dial plate, and the dial spins and re-centers as intended. The switch hook functions as intended, and the phone does appear to be intact internally. This is an antique item, and has not been refurbished, so some age wear is to be expected.
